1. Introduction
4egis ("we", "our", "the Service") is a geospatial intelligence platform for Greece. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our service. We are committed to complying with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Greek data protection law (Law 4624/2019).
2. Data We Collect
Account Data: If you create an account, we store your email address and authentication credentials through Supabase (our database provider). This data is necessary to provide your account and saved projects.
Query Data: Natural language queries you submit are processed by our AI service (Groq) to generate geospatial analyses. Queries may be stored locally in your browser for the query history feature.
Usage Analytics: We use Vercel Analytics to collect anonymous, aggregated usage data (page views, performance metrics). This does not include personal identifiers.
Local Storage: We store your preferences (theme, language, settings), cookie consent status, and query history in your browser's local storage. This data never leaves your device.
IP Addresses: We temporarily process IP addresses for rate limiting and abuse prevention. These are not stored permanently or linked to user accounts.
3. How We Use Your Data
- To provide, maintain, and improve the 4egis platform
- To authenticate users and manage saved projects
- To process geospatial queries and generate analyses
- To prevent abuse through rate limiting
- To understand aggregate usage patterns via anonymous analytics
4. Third-Party Services
Supabase: Authentication and database hosting. Data stored in EU-region servers. Supabase Privacy Policy
Groq: AI language model processing for query analysis. Queries are sent to Groq's API for processing. Groq Privacy Policy
Vercel: Hosting and anonymous analytics. Vercel Privacy Policy
OpenStreetMap / Overpass API: Map data and geographic feature queries. These are public APIs that receive location coordinates.
Open-Meteo: Elevation and weather data. Receives geographic coordinates for terrain analysis.
5. Data Retention
Account data is retained until you delete your account. Local storage data persists until you clear your browser data. Analytics data is aggregated and anonymous. Rate-limiting data is ephemeral and automatically expires within minutes.
6. Your Rights (GDPR)
Under the GDPR, you have the right to:
- Access — Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Rectification — Request correction of inaccurate personal data
- Erasure — Request deletion of your personal data
- Portability — Request your data in a machine-readable format
- Objection — Object to processing of your personal data
- Withdraw Consent — Withdraw cookie consent at any time by clearing local storage
7. Security
We implement industry-standard security measures including HTTPS encryption, Content Security Policy headers, input sanitization and SQL injection prevention, rate limiting, and strict access controls. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure.
8. Children's Privacy
4egis is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe we have collected data from a child, please contact us immediately.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
